We finish kitchens, bathrooms and basements, and we do not build additions.

We work inside the footprint of the house you already own. Sometimes that means expanding into a garage. It never means bolting a new wing onto the back of your home, because the three rooms we do are the three rooms we want to be great at.

Mike Bartelt started in construction in 1984 and established Reality Construction LLC in 1996. Since then the work has stayed in Southeastern Wisconsin: Waukesha, Milwaukee, Washington and Ozaukee counties, and the towns in between.

Every part of a remodel is handled by someone who does that one thing. Electrical, plumbing, cabinets, flooring. Our subcontractors are specialists in their area of home construction and remodeling, and they are the same people from one job to the next.

From construction permits and custom countertop installations to unique cabinetry and everything in between, we handle all the details, including fixtures, cabinets, flooring and hardware.

Options include granite or quartz countertops, cabinets made of maple, ash or oak, and backsplashes of various materials and designs. Whether you are looking for an efficient space or something dramatic, we can make it happen.

Bathrooms

Cabinets, sinks, countertops, flooring, fixtures, tubs and showers.

From getting the building permits to the perfect countertops and everything in between, we handle all the details, from the first consultation and design planning to material ordering and final construction.

With a complete bathroom remodel, our designers will work with you to turn an old tub into a walk-in shower, or the other way around. We do not offer standalone shower or bathtub renovations, and we will gladly accommodate special requests for anyone working with us on a full renovation.

Basements and bars

Rec rooms, bars, home theaters and mother-in-law suites.

Choose from custom cabinetry, countertops, recessed lighting and other options. We have built large open areas for pool or foosball tables, installed fireplaces, and put in stair walls and railings that make the way down worth looking at.

Bar options include granite countertops, stone backsplashes, various wood types and stains, various lighting fixtures, and cabinetry for storage and decoration. If you are on a budget, we will work with you on materials and design to keep costs down.

Step by step

What happens after you call.

The order below is how a Reality Construction project actually runs, from the first knock on your door to the last inspection.

  1. 01

    We come to your house

    The owners of Reality Construction, Mike and Gina, come to your home personally to view your space and get a basic idea of your project.

  2. 02

    You get a free estimate

    Once we have gathered ideas and framed out the project, we give you a free estimate of the cost of the job.

  3. 03

    Measurements, designs, firm proposal

    If our quote is within your budget, we take measurements, draw up designs, and get back to you with a firm proposal.

  4. 04

    You see it in 3D first

    We show you exactly how your finished kitchen, bathroom or rec room will look using 3-D modeling software, which makes approving the finished product before construction begins easy.

  5. 05

    Selections before signing

    We make most of your selections before you sign your contract, so you know you are in budget. We will not add on costs to our initial quote. The price you are quoted is the price you pay.

  6. 06

    Mike runs the job

    Once we start, Mike is your job manager and keeps you updated. He will call, text and email with updates and questions. Craftsmen work between 7am and 5pm, a rough clean-up happens daily, and we take care of permits and inspections.

We offer a one year warranty. Any manufacturer’s warranties are conveyed to the homeowners. If there are any problems, just call and we will see what we can do.

The showroom on Hampton Avenue.

You can stand in front of the countertops, cabinet doors and tile before any of it goes in your house. Most of the choosing happens here, and it happens before you sign anything.
